New Year, New Resolutions

Happy 2018!! I love the beginning of a new year. Even though it’s just another month, I like to view it as a clean slate. New opportunities and so many new adventures to come. I will be starting school this month (thank god) at Cal State Fullerton studying english! While it was nice not having the stress of school this past semester, I really missed being challenged day to day. I’m sure I’ll regret that statement in a few weeks but I feel so privileged to be able to go to college in general. Also, I’m coming up on a year since I started Chasing Sunshine! I can’t believe all of the support I’ve gotten and how fun its been to blog about life. I can’t wait to see what 2018 holds for this little blog of mine.

So, with the new year upon us, I thought I would share my resolutions/goals for 2018 with you guys!!

  • Clean out my closet/crap- This is something that I love doing anyway but the notion of having a clean closet to start the new year (to make room for new clothes of course lol) just seems right. I also have piles of stuff in my garage that does NOT need a home anymore. I plan to donate a lot of my clothes and other miscellaneous items also!
  • Travel as often as I can- This one always makes it on my lists so it wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t include it! J and I plan to go somewhere this summer like we did last summer but I would LOVE to obtain a passport just to have it but also just in case this year takes me out of the United States! I’m going to be very busy this coming semester so I don’t foresee myself getting many opportunities, however I’ll remain optimistic.
  • Build my savings- While I’ve taken a HUGE hit to my personal finance situation this past year, I can only hope for things to go up from here. I’m working on a reasonable budget and a way to save for the future instead of tearing away paycheck to paycheck. I thought working two jobs while not being in school would help me save money. Man was I wrong. I had way more free time and thus, more time to spend all my money. Yes, I could’ve had more restraint but that’s something I’m still working on.
  • Get my first paid blogging gig- I always wondered how other bloggers did it. They posted at least 3 times a week and always had fresh content. I struggled pushing out 2 posts a month. Then it hit me: most of these people get paid to do this. That would definitely be an awesome accomplishment for myself because while working 2 jobs is fun and all, with school coming it would help a lot if I could get paid to do this fun stuff for some dough. A lot of people see promoting stuff on Instagram or their blog as “selling out,” and while I totally understand why they might think that, a girls gotta make a living somehow.
  • Reach massive fitness goals- Lately, I’ve been doing well with the gym. We have a love hate relationship for sure but I hope to keep my stride going in 2018! I would love to get back into running, be able to squat more and start to see more results. I love my body the way it is but I think it’s fun seeing your hard work translate into your figure. As long as my fave jeans still fit and I make it in there at least 3 times a week- I’ll be happy.
  • Get. Outside. More.- There’s not much more that soothes me than the fresh air nature provides. I get so caught up with everyday routines and stresses that I forget to appreciate what surrounds us. I would love to go camping a lot more and maybe switch out a gym day for a running outside day.
  • Radiate kindness- This past year really showed me that while there may be good people left in this world, there was a lot of hate that showed itself throughout the year. Having one person smile at you on a cloudy day really can make a big difference. You have no idea what someone else could be going through in a day and that really hits home for me. If I can remain radiating my Chasing Sunshine motto, then I think I could bring some light into the new year. I challenge you all to do the same♡

That’s it for this year! I always make little notes on my phone of these resolutions/ goals on my phone and I think it’s so fun to look back to see how I did! I would love to hear your goals for this coming year in the comments !

XOXO,

Chasing goals.
