Still figuring out an intro but HI SUNSHINERS.
If you live under a rock, you may have missed that I changed up the way that I “Instagram.” Yes, yes I know. You’re all waiting at the edge of your seat for what comes next.
To be authentic on social media is not an easy thing. I would also like to preface by saying that I don’t believe that its something you just achieve and you’re forever authentic. I believe its about consistency and transparency. A lot of times, I see a caption attempting to be authentic by using some ploy of a caption, followed by an Ad. Again, to preface, I’m all about the hustle. GET. THAT. MONEY. HONEY. Full on supporter of people being able to make money off of a social platform…. IF they use it the right way.
Using your authenticity as a vessel for your content that eventually could lead to Ad deals is something that I whole-heartedly think is, dare I say, #goals.
But, the only part of all of this that I’m disputing is the fact that when someone DOES have a platform based off of their content, they don’t use it for anything constructive. Now, let me say that I do not mean their being informative or changing the world by any means, but those who produce CONTENT over just posting photos have my full respect. It takes a lot of time to curate content and to be able to make money to focus on that is awesome in my opinion. Cheeky captions, unrelateable photos, and just an all around unlikeability factor are what I think contributes to an inauthentic presence on social media. In this essay I will… LOL kidding.
Let’s all make it a point to try and be more authentic, supportive and transparent. More to come on this subject bc I have a lot to say. What do you think curates authenticity on social media?
XOXO,
Authenticity Advocate.
