Protein Soaked French Toast with A Mixed Berry Agave Syrup

I woke up craving French toast and craving something super easy to make. This seriously took five minutes no exaggeration… I’m always looking for a way to add more protein where I can so this French toast is like the perfect compromise for that!

R E C I P E:

This recipe is one egg per piece of toast so you can vary the amount you’re making based on that by adding or subtracting an egg! But for just me I used:

For the French toast:

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 slices of whole wheat bread
  • Tablespoon of vanilla protein powder
  • Teaspoon of cinnamon
  • Splash of vanilla extract

For the Syrup:

  • Handful of desired berries (I used strawberries and blueberries)
  • 2 tablespoons of agave syrup
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • Splash of almond extract

I N S T R U C T I O N S:

  1. Add teaspoon oil to pan (I used coconut) on medium heat.
  2. Add eggs, protein powder, cinnamon, and vanilla extract to a mixing bowl.
  3. Whisk together everything until egg yolks are broken and everything’s combined.
  4. Take piece of whole wheat bread and soak both sides in the egg mixture.
  5.  Place in pan and flip after 3 minutes or until golden brown. Repeat step 4 until pieces are complete.
  6. While toast is in the pan, add your berry mixture to a microwave safe bowl and mash berries with a fork.
  7. Add agave and honey to the mixture and pop in the microwave for :30.
  8. Pour syrup over French toast and serve immediately. Enjoy!!
